I have a weird question....
When you found out you had diabetes did you go into the hospital????
Seems like every blog I read they were put in the hospital when diagnosed.
It's just been bugging me I had over 450 when I was diagnosed and was not put in the hospital.
Please let me know, I'm really curious about it!

I wasn't put in the hospital either. In 2005 I woke up one day and couldn't stand straight up. I was sitting up in my bed (well, I thought I was sitting up in my bed) and I saw my golden retriever lying on the floor..but it looked like she was lying on the wall. I was completely disoriented. The truth was I was falling off the bed and looking at the floor!
I went to my doctor and she told me to pee in a cup, came back into the room and said I was Type 2. Sent me to an endo who prescribed me pills and sent me home. I continued like that for almost a year, while being maxed out on Metformin and my bgs were in the 300-400 range while fasting!
I finally (in desperation) went to another endo and told her my story, she immediately diagnosed me as Type 1 and started me on insulin.
It's been a long road since but I am slowly but surely making progress. The DOC has been a life saver for me. The experiences and day to day stories are a well of information. Welcome to the DOC!

Oh my gosh - sorry but that's kind of funny!!!
I was having all of the drinking, peeing and the nasty yeast upper and lower and could not figure out why. Having a diabetic in the family you would of thought I could of figured it out!!
